Latvia received a group of Ukrainian children of fallen soldiers and participants of ATO on vacation

On August 1, a group of Ukrainian children from Nizhyn and Nosivka went to Latvia for holidays. Two attendants and 13 children from families of died soldiers and participants of ATO will pass the healthcare course and psychological rehabilitation in the crisis center of the Latvian town Smiltene for 7 days free of cost.

On June, 17 Day of the Latvian culture was held in Chernihiv. The event was supported by Honorary Consulate of Latvia in Chernihiv and Chernihiv region, Embassy of Latvia in Ukraine and the LatviArt cultural center.

Recently Honorary Consul of the Republic of Latvia in Chernigiv Olena Vyshnyakova visited Latvian Ogre city. For few years already ogre is Chernigiv brethren city, that’s why both the city hall and community have close relations with Ukrainians. During her visit Mrs. Vyshnyakova met city mayor Mr. Arthur Margulis, with whom she discussed possible options of future bilateral cooperation between Chernigiv and Ogre. Besides, it was agreed with Latvian colleagues, regarding cooperation in humanitarian and cultural spheres, and bilateral exchange between schools and universities. From his side, Mr. Margulis assured that local authorities and citizen in full scale support friendly relations with Ukraine.

On Wednesday with the support of Honorary Consulate of Latvian Republic in Chernigiv took place the meeting with students and teachers of the State Penitentiary Service Academy. The event was also attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia to Ukraine Yuris Poikans and the head of Cherigiv regional administration Valerij Kulich. Honorary Consul of Latvian Republic and guests communicated with the youth, discussed Ukraine-Latvia relations in Europe, common issues and ways of cooperation.

Ukraine and Latvia continue to strengthen relations

Olena Vyshnyakova - Honorary Consul of Latvian Republic, together with the Head of friendship with Ukraine group - Ajnars Mezhulis, and co-Head Olexander Kodola organized four day visit of Ukrainian authorities’ delegation from Chernigiv region to Latvia.

On 4th of April delegation of Verhovna Rada on interparliamentary relations with Latvian Republic came with the visit to the capital of Latvia – Riga. This visit became possible with the support of Honorary Consulate of Latvia in Chernigiv, Heads of Verhovna Rada group on interparliamentary relations with Latvia - peoples deputy Oleksander Koloda, and peoples deputy of Sejm - Ajnars Mezhulis, and with participation of Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Ukraine in Latvian Republic HE Evgen Perebyjnis and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Latvia in Ukraine HE Yuris Paikans. Our delegation had a number of important meetings with the leadership of the country, business representatives, doctors and volunteers that help Ukraine and Ukrainian students.

The Honorary Consulate of Latvia was opened in Chernihiv

On January 25, 2016 the opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate of Latvia took place in Chernihiv and Chernihiv region. The event was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia in Ukraine Juris Poikāns, the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Latvia in Chernihiv and Chernihiv region Olena Vyshniakova, the leaders of the city and region, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada and Saeima of Latvia, the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
